CST 300 - Week 4
Hey everyone!
I am back with an update on my online journey.
Part One: Set Your Educational Goals
To be honest, I hadn't really thought about this until this week. The readings and lectures really got me thinking on what it was that I wanted to achieve in my educational life. Firstly, I want to master the computer science core concepts. I see myself confidently solving complex algorithms, understanding data structures, and applying these skills to various programming languages. The thrill to solve puzzle-like problems and the satisfaction of seeing my code work is what I am excited about. I aim to score an A or B in at least my core classes, with at least one significant project and at least 75-80% on my coding assignments.
Part Two: Set Your Career Goals
I am not really sure about my career goals yet but I do want to be the best at whatever I plan to do. Be it working at a software development company, or working for further artificial intelligence advancement, I want to be able to enjoy what I do and work hard. I see myself using my tech skills to contribute to social good. Community service for me is important, because I believe that gratitude can be shown through acts of service. It is exciting for me to see that I can contribute to make a meaningful difference in the world through my work. I aim to develop and implement at least one tech - based social initiative within the next five years.
Part Three: Take a wild guess of your percentile of the ETS Computer Science test
If I work hard and act as I plan, then I think I would be able to score at least an 80% in the ETS Computer Science test. This is because I believe that this program will equip me with all the necessary skills I need to succeed in my career goals.
Part Four: Keep Up With Your Learning Journal
This week we learned about the ETS major field test and the 7 career goals you need to succeed. These two lecture readings helped us to set our career and educational goals. We then learned about how to write an argumentative essay. We learned about stakeholders, different types of claims, bias in argumentation, and a brief about what we need to write on our ethics essay. We even started our second essay's, the ethics essay's, outline! We reviewed our classmates' time management blogs, which helped to understand what they do throughout their days and how they balance their daily tasks. We also had a team assignment where we guessed out teammates' truth and lies. It was a nice team building segment and we learned something new about our colleagues. Alongside this, we imagined our future interview and how we would answer questions with AI being so prevalent in this generation. Last but not least, we had a scenario-based ethics discussion in which we learned how to deal with practical scenarios using what we learned in the previous week about ethics.
Overall it was a fun week and hoping to get more out of this course. Until next time!
Hi Tasneem,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading about your goals. Your passion for computer science is clear and it's awesome that you're aiming to master the core concepts. Joining a study group or trying out coding competitions could be a fun way to push yourself even further. Keep up this same mentality and you will surely succeed.
Hi Tasneem! Great to read about your educational and career goals. I like how enthusiastic you are about AI. I personally am not the biggest fan of it, but i really hope you can use AI to positively impact the world and change my mind! I have the confidence that you will be able to achieve this! Stay resilient and continue doing what you are doing. good luck!
