CST 300 - Week 5
Hey everyone!
We are back with yet another update my online computer science journey.
Part One: Support and Comment on Teammates' Goals
Part Two: Possible Capstone Ideas
After viewing several Capstone presentations, I've identified three potential projects that align with my interests in app and game development. Here are three possible Capstone projects I might choose to pursue:
1. Educational Game for Learning Programming Concepts - I would like to develop a mobile game designed to teach programming concepts to beginners. The game could use a fun and interactive approach to introduce basic coding principles, such as loops, conditionals, and functions, using a visual and engaging narrative.
2. Fitness App with Game - like Elements - I would like to create a fitness app that incorporates gamification to motivate users to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The app would track users' physical activities and reward them with points, badges, and achievements for completing workouts and reaching fitness goals.
3. Augmented Reality (AR) App for Historical Education - I would like to develop an AR app that brings historical events and figures to life. Users could point their mobile devices at specific locations or objects to see AR overlays that provide information, animations, and interactive elements related to historical contexts.
Part Three: Keep Up With Your Learning Journal
This week, we started thinking of ideas for our final video project. It was nice to see other teams' ideas as well. We learned potential project ideas. The fun part was that we got to vote for each team on what we think they should base their project on. It was a fun and interactive segment!
We also learned about logical fallacies as well as had a discussion post about it. It was amazing to see how easy it is to get caught up in such deceiving words and pictures. It was important for us to learn about this and be able to identify them because we also started writing our draft of our ethics essay. We had to make sure we were speaking unbiased, and proved facts, without including any logical fallacies. Starting the essay made me realize how easy it looks, but how much effort it requires to complete a satisfactory assignment.
While I read through some classmates' career goals, I realized that internship is really important for me to gain experience in my computer science skills. I definitely want to do an internship if I have the chance, even if it is part-time.
Although this week was a little bit lighter, we really needed the extra time to write the essay. I hope to see more of what our professors have prepared for us! Until next time.....
