CST 300 - Week 5

Image
Hey everyone! We are back with yet another update my online computer science journey.  Part One: Support and Comment on Teammates' Goals  Part Two: Possible Capstone Ideas After viewing several Capstone presentations, I've identified three potential projects that align with my interests in app and game development. Here are three possible Capstone projects I might choose to pursue: 1. Educational Game for Learning Programming Concepts - I would like to develop a mobile game designed to teach programming concepts to beginners. The game could use a fun and interactive approach to introduce basic coding principles, such as loops, conditionals, and functions, using a visual and engaging narrative. 2. Fitness App with Game - like Elements - I would like to create a fitness app that incorporates gamification to motivate users to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The app would track users' physical activities and reward them with points, badges, and achievements for completing worko...

CST 300 - Week 4

Hey everyone! I am back with an update on my online journey.  Part One: Set Your Educational Goals To be honest, I hadn't really thought about this until this week. The readings and lectures really got me thinking on what it was that I wanted to achieve in my educational life. Firstly, I want to master the computer science core concepts. I see myself confidently solving complex algorithms, understanding data structures, and applying these skills to various programming languages. The thrill to solve puzzle-like problems and the satisfaction of seeing my code work is what I am excited about. I aim to score an A or B in at least my core classes, with at least one significant project and at least 75-80% on my coding assignments.  Part Two: Set Your Career Goals I am not really sure about my career goals yet but I do want to be the best at whatever I plan to do. Be it working at a software development company, or working for further artificial intelligence advancement, I want to be...

CST 300 - Week 3

Hello everyone! We have now reached the end of week 3 of our online journey! We learned so much this week. Firstly, we learned about different academic study tips. As discussed in my previous post, one area that I felt I need to improve on was to improve my concentration to study effectively. From the article this week, I learned some things I have not come across before. For one, studying with a routine. It helps a lot when time is delegated to specific tasks. Another tip that I found helpful was to do something different than usual in  my study breaks. This helps to look forward to the breaks and refreshes my mind more.      Another segment we had this week was lecture material on ethics. This was fascinating because I learned the different types of ethical theories, frameworks, morals, and laws. Some examples are: - ethical egoism: those who are motivated by their self-interest - The Divine Command Theory focuses on what is right and wrong according to God's will....

CST300 - Week 2

This week was the second week of my journey towards earning an online bachelor’s degree and I can say that it was pretty cool. We wrote our first draft of our industrial analysis essay and did two peer reviews. It was quite a challenge, but I definitely learned something new! We also learned some new information. It was divided into four parts. Part 1: Review and Reflect Learning Strategy First, we learned about effective study skills through a document by Dr. Bob Kizlik. It talked about how no one studies the same way and not every tip works for everyone. After reflecting on what I read in this article, the three things I am good at is – 1.         Maintaining a daily schedule. It helps me plan a routine and act productively throughout the day. I like to follow the fixed routine I have set for myself, and I would say that I am diligent at following it. I try to use my study hours to the fullest, taking breaks when needed. It satisfies me...
